There is plenty to do in Peoria. Just like every other mid-size city. People that say it is boring, or nothing to do are probably boring, lazy people themselves.

Moving To Peoria IL??? Wow that is a stretch. Maybe 60+ years ago when employment was plentiful, taxes were somewhat reasonable, public schools weren't horrible and crime was lower. My wife and I left Peoria the day we were married in 1986. The lack of economic opportunity in a town dominated by 1 employer was the main driver to get the hell out and so glad we did. We have prospered personally and financially by moving to an area with a growing economy, appreciating property values, better weather and reduced taxes. We go back multiple times a year to visit and can see the area contracting in size. Cheap home purchase cost is about the only positive aspect about living in PIA.

Hrew up in peoria. And owned homes in peoriw. The crime rate is extremely high. No matter were you live. Good place to be a victim. As many of my family and friends have been victims of crime. Including death and shooters never found

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but I have lived in Peoria almost all my life until I was about 48 years old. I was from the southside and the drugs, gang murders and serial killers in that area absolutely ridiculous and for you to be trying to get people to move there just to make some money because you’re a real realtor you need to reevaluate your situation and look at the facts before you send people to their deaths.

I worked at Bergner's during one Christmas break from college, and was hired as a clerk in kids' department. When they could not get anyone to be the Talking Christmas tree, several of us "seasonal" workers had to take turns doing this. Inside the base--it was small, it was hot, and awful. But~most of the kids loved it, so there is that!

Central Illinois is pretty nice and it's unfortunate many people in the Chicago area would never travel there. I love the "Heights" and would go to Grandview drive almost daily after work when I lived in Peoria. It's such a beautiful area and many of the locals seem not to appreciate it.

Why would anyone want to move to the communist Peoria area? You want good cities, come down to Southern Illinois, Obama shutting down the coal mines had a severe negative impact on the area, but it is still better than anything up north.

The only things to do is go to wildlife Prairie Park off of I74 Exit 82 turn toward Edwards Il Off of I74 then goes to Il Route 8 and Forrest Park Nature Center in Peoria Heights is pretty cool and its free and the wildlife and nature will come up to you. Also William Reid Park in Mapleton Il if you like nature walks camping and fishing have their own private lake which is part of Hollis Park District.

Peoria Illinois is by far the best city in the history of the United States anyone who thinks otherwise can hit the showers, for example we have some of the TOP roads from exotic vehicles in the world. The roads are in PRESTINE condition! The school system district 150 is superior is almost every way with excellent facilities and faculty ! Yes the pricing and historic architecture of Peoria is nice. But it seems to be a liberal cesspit overrun with crime and diversity. Steer clear. IL aint it anymore. Looking to leave Central IL asap personally.

Springdale Cemetery is possibly one of the best cemeteries in the world imo. Père-Lachaise is my all-time favorite but Springdale should be seen at least once by everyone. It’s over 100 acres of private mausoleums, hills, two bridges, a murder happened there in the 1930s and there’s a rumored area where witches meet up and do magic (Cole circle). By far my favorite thing in Peoria. Also, Grandview drive and the Peoria Heights tower are really cheap ($2 cash for tower) and beautiful things to visit. If you’re willing to cross over to EP, spindler marina has some really beautiful boardwalks and you can hike to a beach. EP also has the lookout point but it’s basically a lesser version of Grandview. Also, since you mention Wildlife Prairie Park, Jubilee State Park is five minutes from that and is free. It’s not super big but it has a really beautiful cemetery, picnic areas and you can look at the old Jubilee college. Back to Peoria though, the Bradley Park is really beautiful in the fall . It’s probably the safest park in Peoria as well. I think those are all the places I know of off the top of my mind. The surrounding areas like Morton (beautiful parks), Washington, eureka (both have pretty nice lakes, Washington has a nice square if you’re over there when it’s warm) and Pekin have a lot to offer too. You just have to be willing to go the extra mile and explore.

There is also the Heart of Illinois Fair in the summer. In the fall, there is the Pumpkin Festival in Morton. Tremont has a festival as well. There are probably more festivals in surrounding towns as well. There is also College Basketball. The Bradley Braves and Missouri Valley Conference Basketball.
